Bio:

Rose has had tons of imaginary friends since she was a child. They felt real to her, often dropping by to take part in her little tea parties, laying with her in bed, and even talking to her about school life. Her parents wasn't alarmed by the behaviour, and sometimes even encouraged it, brushing it off as a phase she'll eventually grow out of.

Things took a turn for the worse after she showed her 'friends' off during a show & tell session in class, causing her to become the target of bullying and teasing by her schoolmates. Over time, she learnt to just keep the knowledge to herself and avoid human contact whenever possible.

Life carried on in this way for little Rose until she entered her teenage years. She has grown her hair out, trying to shield her face from the judgemental stares of people. Baggy clothing were often donned in an attempt to hide her form and existence. To add on to her stress, her imaginary friends also disappeared with her age, just as her parents have predicted.

With loneliness adding on to her mental stress, Rose eventually became too depressed and stopped going to school altogether. She spent a few more years getting homeschooled before her worried parents finally realized how extreme the situation has gotten. Her prolonged isolation has whittled away at her already non existent social skills, and she was starting to grow unfamiliar with the outside world. After a few days' worth of heated debates, they finally made a decision to send Rose off to the mental institution to get proper treatment. Naturally, the already highly distressed girl took it as an act of betrayal and rebelled, using all the frustration and anger she's been bottling up over the years to throw herself out of her bedroom window.

-

After spending what she thought was a little too much time in freefall, Rose pried one of her eyelid open slightly to check her bearings, only to fully open both eyes in a mixture of fear and surprise.

A gigantic flying serpent was falling alongside her.

Rose opened her mouth to scream, but the wind was already knocked out of her lungs when she pushed herself off. She could only helplessly lock eyes with the terrifying beast, as it glided even closer to her.

Visions suddenly flashed across her eyes, as if someone was shuffling a stack of photographs in her mind.

A man, with a family.

The door opens.

Swords. Blood. Death.

The dying man, clinging onto the cold fingertips of his wife.

Then nothing.

No words were exchanged between the two, but Rose immediately understood. With what was left of her strength, she stretched a hand out, gingerly patting the serpent's head. Then everything went black.

-

Rose woke up in the ICU with a new purpose. With her new serpent friend coiled around her, she proceeded to ace all the medical checks the hospital piled on her, and even managed to get herself out of her ward a few months early, much to her parents and the staffs' surprise.

Despite the addition of her duty as Gatekeeper, life has almost gone back to normal, in a way.
